NEW INVESTMENT FUND FOR SCOTLAND’S CITIES

Brian Adam, MSP for Aberdeen Donside, has today welcomed the announcement from the Scottish Government of a £5 million investment fund and the creation of Scottish Cities Alliance to accelerate the pace of investment in our cities, including Aberdeen.

Nicola Sturgeon, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy announced the Cities Investment Fund which will see cities working together to offer large economies of scale to potential investors.

Mr Adam said:

"The 'Agenda for Cities' is an excellent opportunity for Aberdeen to benefit from new investment to make our city more attractive to the world.

"Whether it be installing wifi or attracting high profile events I hope that the Councils will work together to deliver what is best for the whole of Scotland.

"This £5 million in fund is another example of the Scottish Governments innovate thinking to stimulate investment in Scotland.

"By bringing together Scotland's cities we will put forward better investment proposals to private businesses and Europe, increasing our potential for future economic growth.

Mr Adam continued:

"I hope the local businesses can now work with the public sector to make the best use of this fund to drive forward investment in our cities which will lead to jobs growth and further economic prosperity for Aberdeen."
